First day of the BC
2010 i moved to Texas from New Jersey. In New Jersey i would would wear my hair straight a lot, to the point where people didn’t even know i had naturally curly hair. When i moved to Texas i had no idea what humidity was really. When i walked off the plane my hair frizzed up and was wavy/curly, it was gross. So i would straighten my hair constantly everyday to keep it straight, but it keep frizzing up. I tried to go natural but i didn’t know how to manage it so i went back to straightening it. My hair started breaking off badly. I went to the salon after like 6 months and she was like “what the hell did you do to your hair”. My hair was down my back the last time i seen her and it was a little past my shoulders when i went back. She told me i had put to my heat on my hair and i damaged it badly! I had such back split ends she had to cut my hair shorter. (i cried the whole time) She instructed me on how to go natural. It was pretty hard at first because my hair wouldn’t work with me but finally i found a beauty guru on you tube named “Shameless Maya” and i watched her “Twist Out” video and i can honestly say it changed my life. It was SO simple and it worked. All i had to do was apply grease and gel and twist it and then take it out in the morning. Now that i have tamed my curls with the twist out i don’t have to do it every night. I could just put it up in a pineapple and a silk warp and apply water,grease,and gel and be on my way. My hair has slowly started to grow back and i know if i stick to being natural it will be back to it’s original length in no time. I’m actually happy that this happened to me because i would have never learned to appreciate my natural hair. (:
